Poll: Primary Design Tool

We asked this question back in 2016, and the numbers have certainly changed since then.

These applications were all mentioned by our users in this poll, both primary and secondary:

  • 12D
  • Advance Steel
  • ArchiCAD
  • AutoCAD
  • AutoCAD Architecture
  • AutoCAD Architecture
  • AutoCAD Electrical
  • AutoCAD LT
  • AutoCAD Mechanical
  • AutoCAD MEP
  • AutoCAD Plant 3D
  • Autodesk Fabrication MEP
  • Bluebeam
  • BricsCAD
  • BricsCAD BIM
  • CAD MEP
  • CADWorx
  • Camel
  • CHVAC
  • Civil 3d
  • Configura CET
  • Creo
  • Enscape
  • Esri ArcMap
  • etabs
  • Infraworks
  • Inventor
  • keysign
  • Lumion
  • Map 3D
  • MicroStation
  • Plant 3D
  • Revit
  • Revit LT
  • Rhino
  • Sketchup
  • SolidWorks
  • Vectorworks
  • Visio

First, take a look at the software our members say they use the most.

Revit leads the pack in primary design tools reported, with AutoCAD not far behind. ArchiCAD is 3rd, with Civil 3D and Inventor after that.

During the 2016 poll, Revit won out with 1/3 of the votes, with AutoCAD at 23%.

When it comes to secondary design tools, AutoCAD and Revit are clear winners here as well, with a mix of other solutions rounding out a portfolio.

Certainly some changes since we asked before. Previously, 4% of respondents said Paper as primary as well as secondary, no mention of hand designing this time.

Please check out this month’s poll, on which collaboration tools you are using, and look for the results in next month’s issue of HotNews.
