Letter from the President - December 2020

Welcome to December! This is my favorite time of the year! I love being able to spend time with my family and although things may be a bit challenging this year, we are certainly trying to make the best of it. Our Christmas tree went up the day after Thanksgiving, and we are excitedly shopping, wrapping gifts, and baking cookies. Yum! My kiddos are too old to believe in Santa, but as a mom I still write “From Santa” on some of their gifts. These are just some of the traditions that we look forward to every year.

Speaking of traditions, our Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held the week of Autodesk University. Because of the virtual format of AU this year (thanks, COVID!) and because the AUGI reach is expanding beyond just Autodesk products, we are hosting our AGM virtually and independently from AU. The AGM will be held on December 9th, 2020, at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time. We will have our favorite emcee, none other than Lynn Allen! We will also have other exciting presenters, presentation of our Wish List to Autodesk, news from the year, and a look ahead. AUGI has had a fantastic year and we are excited about what the future holds for our organization. You do not want to miss it! There will be a link to the AGM on the AUGI website (augi.com). Please watch your email for further details. We will certainly miss seeing those of you who attend AU in person, but we are thrilled at the possibility of reaching even more of our members with this virtual event.

This month’s AUGIWORLD issue is dedicated to Industry Insights. I think the coolest thing about our magazine is that it is written by people like you and me who are working in the industry day in and day out. With the different social media platforms available, it is easier than ever to keep tabs on the direction of your particular field. Our authors this month have been working diligently to bring you their own industry insights relative to design software.

As we look to the close of 2020 (and what a year it has been!) we are so very grateful for our members, volunteers, authors, and board members. We could not be the organization that we are today without each of you. I hope that the holiday season will bring you a fond moment to cherish even in the midst of the chaos that has been 2020. Now where did I put those chocolate chips??
