LUG Nuggets - June 2004

Hello and welcome!

Another month has passed and things are progressing quite well. Let me update you on some behind-the-scenes activities. Our forums are progressing well and their launch is imminent. I hope we will get a lot more activity in the LUG forum once it is reactivated. If registration of new LUGs is any indication, we should have quite a few new members looking for and volunteering information.

I have been in contact with a number of our LUG presidents and have spent a considerable amount of time getting new user groups registered and activated. We are officially up to 100 active and growing Local User Groups. Look at this recent list of locations that have expressed an interest, been created from scratch, or simply registered their existence. The list is getting longer by the day and really reflects the fact that we are an international group: Brazil, Peru, Germany, Spain, UK, Canada, Australia, and Malaysia.

And now without further delay, I’d like to showcase a LUG that is really raising the bar for the rest of us. Please join me in congratulating and thanking our Middle Tennessee, Southern Kentucky User Group (MTSKUG).

Thanks,
Your LUG Manager

A Volunteer State LUG Volunteers

The Middle Tennessee, Southern Kentucky, User Group (MTSKUG) has stepped up to assist some future AUGI members. They have volunteered to judge some CAD competitions for an organization geared to assist students in a variety of technology fields. The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national non-profit organization devoted exclusively to the needs of elementary, middle, and high school students with a dedicated interest in technology. Assisting TSA's 170,000+ student members is a strong support system of educators, alumni, parents, and business leaders who believe in the importance of a technologically literate society.

TSA has chapters in 48 states that can engage in various competitions at the middle school or high school levels. Chapter advisors, who are generally technology education teachers, provide students the opportunity to join a local school chapter where students can experience growth in leadership and participate in competitive events. Most states offer competition for members at regional, state, and national levels. To find out if your LUG could volunteer for future competitions in your area, go to the TSA website and check them out.

Members of MTSKUG will be judging the Architectural 2D, Engineering 3D, Animation Architectural, and Animation Engineering competitions for the National TSA conference in Nashville, Tennessee. The participants in these competitions have already won the right to compete by winning their regional and state competitions. It is very surprising what these young people can accomplish. The members of MTSKUG are in for a real treat!

MSTKUG meets in the upper Nashville area on the second Tuesday of each month. The group's primary focus is on AutoCAD, Autodesk Architectural Desktop, and Autodesk Inventor.
