The Eastern Maine CADD Users Group was formed in 1987. The Group was formed and managed by Dick Staples of the former EMVTI. Initially the group had a strong membership, meeting monthly in the drafting department at EMVTI. In 1991 due to membership decline and the seemingly lack of interest, meetings were suspended. Since 1991 a lot has happened at the former EMVTI, now EMCC and a renewed interest has occurred. Formerly the drafting department taught drafting classes to all the other technologies on campus. In 2000, a new Associates degree program was added to the drafting department. Because of this new program there has been an abundance of talk about re-starting the group. CADD is more popular than ever adn the need for this group is apparent.
