Text layer

You can create a Tool Palette tool that will allow you to start the MText command with a layer key. That tool can then be referenced by a ribbon tool, if you want.

2015 Custom Railing Visibility in Plan Views

Balusters are not visible in plan view by default. You can make them visible by ticking Plan/RCP option in visibility settings in the baluster family, 'When cut in Plan/RCP...' should be checked as well. Make sure the cut plane in your project is set to cut the rail below the handrail.
