ATP Instructors


Robert Green

Robert Green
Robert is a nationally known author and consultant with 19 years of experience in MCAD. He heads the Robert Green Consulting Group and is a 10-year veteran speaker at Autodesk University. He is also a very popular speaker at many of the AUGI CAD Camps. You’ve likely read his work in CADalyst magazine or in his bimonthly CAD Manager’s newsletter. Robert provides various consulting and teaching services for clients throughout the US and Canada. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.


Sunith Babu

Sunith Babu
After Sunith completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, he continued on for a Masters Degree in CAD CAM focusing on Modeling Simulation and Analysis. He has been teaching AutoCAD for the last 6 years which includes various aspects of AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor since 2003. He has conducted numerous training programs [TSDP - Technical Skill Developement Program] in Autodesk Inventor to faculty members and students from various engineering colleges across India. He has been selected as an AutoDesk Beta Tester and was an Authorized Education Partner with Kruthi Computers Bangalore, India. He has also published several tutorials in www.3dcadtips.com and www.tenlinks.com. He also involved in E-Learning and Technical Writing of AutoDesk Products and is working on industry projects using Autodesk Inventor. Currently, he is working at [P.E.S.I.T] - Peoples Education Society Institute of Technology - Bangalore, India. He is also an Autodesk Developer Network (ADN) member since April 2007.


Richard Binning

Richard Binning
Richard Binning serves AUGI as the President on the Board of Directors and as the LUG (Local User Group) manager and Forum manager. He is an internationally recognized speaker, an ATP Instructor, the Exchange Approvals Manager, a PaperSpace, AUGIWorld, and HotNews contributing author, and an Autodesk University and CAD Camp Instructor. He is also a contributing member of the AEC/IS Roundtable. As the AEC technology application manager at The Haskell Company, he oversees AEC related application development, system usage, best practices and training of personnel. He is also an adjunct faculty member at Technology Institute of the South, a Premiere Autodesk Training Center and the location for both NE Florida AUGI CAD Camps. Richard's design experience includes the following disciplines: architecture, civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical. He is well-versed in programming using Visual Basic, VB Script, Visual Basic for Applications, AutoLISP, Visual LISP, XML and HTML.


John Bogie

John Bogie
John Bogie has 21 years of experience using AutoCAD from Version 2.5 to AutoCAD 2006. He has about 15 years of intermittent, informal teaching and 8 years of part-time, formal teaching in Vocational Colleges. He holds City & Guilds of London certificates CG4351-01 (2d), CG4351-03 (3d) and CG4351-04 (customization and management). Ordinary National Certificate in General Engineering with distinction in all subjects. Before all that, he was a board-based draftsman for approximately 20 years.


Danny Counts

Danny Counts
Danny Counts has 18 years of experience in the Civil Engineering industry. He has been teaching the Autodesk Civil Engineering technology since 1994. As a native to Southern California, he has gained all his industry and teaching experience by working with civil engineering firms in Southern California. Danny has extensive real world experience working as a staff civil engineer for two different Southern California Civil Engineering firms for 11 years. During his teaching experience, Danny has trained thousands of Civil Engineers, Designers, Survey Professionals, and Drafters on how to more efficiently use the Autodesk Civil Engineering technology for real world design scenarios and projects. Danny studied Civil Engineering at California State University of Long Beach and has also taught for various colleges, technical schools as well as other Autodesk resellers and training centers.


Antonio ''Toni'' Fontenele

Antonio 'Toni' Fontenele
Antonio 'Toni' Fontenele is a 38 year-old Brazilian architect that lives in Brazil's southeast region in the city of Itajai, in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil. He started to work with computers when he was just 12 years old. He began to use Autodesk software in 1992 starting with AutoCAD R10 and 3D Studio R1. Since then, he's taught many building design professionals. He also writes articles for the most popular Brazilian CAD magazine, CADesign, where he talks about CAD management, AutoCAD and Autodesk Architectural Desktop. Since 2000, He and his design team developed more than 360 residential architectural designs using ADT and more than 6,000 presentation renderings using 3D Studio Viz R3. He was also invited to join Autodesk's Beta Program helping test their software in real-environment tasks. At the end of 2000, Autodesk's Usability Team brought him to the attention of AUGI and he was invited to join a team that translated the old AUGI website from English to Portuguese. Since then, he has been involved with the AUGI Training Program faculty for many semesters. He still occasionally helps AUGI members with translating Portuguese messages to and from other AUGI members. He is an AUGIbr director and he was certified by Autodesk as AutoCAD 2009 Certified Professional, AutoCAD 2009 Certified Associate, AutoCAD Architecture 2009 Certified Professional and AutoCAD Architecture 2009 Certified Associate at Autodesk University 2008.


Wayne Hillman

Wayne Hillman
Wayne is a skilled AutoCAD user, talented and creative programmer, and skilled mathematician. His articles in AUGIWorld have been enjoyed by our readers worldwide. This combined with his great communication skills make him uniquely qualified to serve as one of our instructors. He has an A.A.S. in Engineering Design and is Autodesk Certified. He’s created thousands of AutoCAD documents leading to a wide array of civil, institutional and residential projects including 5 years working with Architectural Desktop. Wayne has authored AutoLISP Programming for 18 years. He’s also kept busy doing Construction Cost Analysis, and Computer Administration including the development of CAD Systems, and Company Policies & Procedures.


Jennifer Loftfield

Jennifer Loftfield
Jennifer started drafting at the tender age of 13 and never looked back! Now many years later (she's not saying how many!) she has an A.A.S. in Industrial Technology Engineering and still loves what she does. She has over 8 years of experience with AutoCAD and has been trying to unlock all of its secrets since version 14. When this AUGI Kitty isn't hanging out in CWC or prowling the forums looking for someone new to recruit, she can be found at home with a kitty in her lap, a book in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other.


Kenneth Leary

Kenneth Leary
Ken first discovered his love for drafting his freshman year in high school; he took every drafting class they had to offer. He’s been using AutoCAD since Release 10. He’s currently working as an Aviation Designer/CADD Manager for a Transportation engineering firm in Orlando, Florida. Ken has written several articles for the AUGI Hotnews Tipniques column and currently serves as the ATP Coordinator and AUGI General Survey Manger. When he’s not working, he loves spending time with his wife and three children. He can also be found in the AUGI forums chatting with friends and making new ones.


James Murphy

James Murphy
James has over 10 years of experience as an instructor in the CAD program for a technical college. He retired from the military with 22 years of experience as a training non-commission officer organizing and scheduling training and live exercises. He is currently working as a GIS Technician and the Drafting Supervisor for an Electrical Utility Co-Op covering five counties in the State of Tennessee.


Ammon Nelson

Ammon Nelson
Ammon’s first experiences with teaching were as a tutor for AutoCAD classes at Salt Lake Community College in the Architectural Technology Dept. He was introduced to Civil / Survey Drafting while he was attending the University of Idaho and working part time for a Civil Engineering / Landscape Architectural Office. He has been working full time as a Civil Engineering CAD Designer since 2003, using various versions of Land Desktop and AutoCAD.


Chris Nibbe

Chris Nibbe
Chris Nibbe lives in Rochester, Minnesota and works in the Architectural Department of Yaggy Colby Associates, a multi-discipline design firm. He has spent the last 9 years in the Architectural & Design field. Chris has an A.S. degree in Architectural Drafting and has worked on all releases since v10. He decided to draw construction rather than build it as part of the family business, and started his career as a production drafter. When he's not producing Construction Documents and misc. 3D models in Acad and other software, his un-official duties include creating and maintaining his department's new Dynamic Blocks, CAD standards and practices. When he isn't working Chris can be found surfing the AUGI forums, enjoying Recumbent Cycling, Woodworking, Remodeling his house, or hanging out with his wife when she manages to pull him away from any of the preceding activities.


Renata Pfeifer

Renata Pfeifer
Renata was taught on AutoCAD 10 and AutoCAD R14. She has an Associate in Liberal Arts and in Applied Science, majored in Design Engineering Technology. Currently, she works in mechanical and electrical engineering. She has taught AutoCAD Electrical to coworkers in a three-day class setting. This was done with a presentation and hands on training. She is currently using AutoCAD Electrical 2007 and AutoCAD 2007. She has already taught, ATP151-Script Files and a FastTrack, ATP172-Two Great Tools.


Beth Powel

Beth Powel
Beth Powel first began teaching ATP courses in June, 2000. She has also taught employees at her former position. She is currently writing her own training content and teaches classes for an Autodesk Reseller in South West Virginia. Beth’s dedication to Autodesk users has been apparent in her volunteer efforts over the years with AUGI. She has helped with support to users, written and edited the PaperSpace newsletter, assisted AUGIWorld magazine when it began, and taught and helped behind the scenes with the ATP. In 2002-2003 she served a two-year term on the AUGI Board of Directors. Beth created a weblog to give users resources, tutorials, new release information, and general tips and tricks for AutoCAD, Architectural Desktop, Building Systems, Revit, or Viz. Michelle Rasmussen

Michelle Rasmussen
Michelle Rasmussen has been using AutoCAD since Release 9, primarily in the field of civil engineering and design. Much of her experience comes from the Air Force where her duties included grading missile sites, drafting roads, utilities, buildings, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) work. She obtained a bachelor of science in geography, specializing in GIS, from the University of Utah. Michelle has been an Autodesk Certified Instructor since 2000. She is currently an Autodesk® Approved Instructor as well as the lead instructor and program coordinator for the CAD Applications Training Center at Salt Lake Community College. She serves as an advisor to Autodesk and other Autodesk Training Centers as a member of the Autodesk Training Center Advisory Board (ATCAB).


George Sanchez

George Sanchez
Having worked on the Electro-Mechanical design field for 18 years, George is now helping customers as an Applications Engineer working for U.S. CAD based in San Diego, California U.S.A. He is a very active person, with passion for Family, work, outdoors, movies, music and CAD. George has written articles for periodicals, Instructed customers on Inventor and Autocad Electrical for the past 3.5 years, and is an Autodesk Approved Instructor, ICE, MICE and DMICE Certified. He is also a AUGI Moderator for MSD.


Todd Shackelford

Todd Shackelford
Todd is an Autodesk Architectural Desktop Certified Expert, Autodesk University and CAD Camp instructor. He has been published in Cadalyst Online and AUGIWorld. Todd is currently the CAD Administrator Alvine Engineering and IP Design Group and an adjunct professor for Metropolitan Community College in Omaha Nebraska. He is a technical consultant and educator with more than 12 years of CAD experience in customization, MEP engineering and CAD management specializing in Autodesk Building Systems customized implementations and support.


Cord Struckmann

Cord Struckmann
In his role as an architect and CAD Manager, Cord Struckmann, AIA, is trying to push CAD software to the edge in terms of adaptability for architecture, flexibility, and ease of use. As a CAD user for more than 10 years, and still unsatisfied from the early days of CAD as a drafting help, he nevertheless hasn't lost his optimism to improve the situation. With experience in AutoCAD, Architectural Desktop, MicroStation and Revit, he is doing this right now with AutoCAD for San Francisco and Miami-based SB Architects, a design-oriented hospitality and residential architecture company with projects worldwide. The class on Metric/Imperial AutoCAD is his first class for the AUGI community.


Eric Wing

Eric Wing
Eric Wing lives in Syracuse, New York where he is the CAD manager for Klepper, Hahn & Hyatt, a Structural engineering / Landscape Architecture firm. He also teaches AutoCAD at BOCES which is a New York State continuing education facility. He also has his own consulting firm called Wing Systems Consultants. When he's not working he spends time with his two adorable kids Cassidy and Jacob. He also plays bass guitar, and sings in an all original band called Jemba.


Ernie Bustamante

Ernie has over 15 years of experience in architectural design documents and construction documents. He’s worked in the hospitality/retail and themed entertainment fields. His extensive experience includes commercial and governmental projects. He’s been using Revit since release 4 (pre Autodesk). Currently he is the Revit instructor for Ketiv Technologies, Inc in Fullerton, California. He teaches the Autodesk Official Training Courseware and provides Revit support.


Bradley N. Crouse

Brad graduated from Littlestown High School, Littlestown, PA in 1989. He served in the Marines from 1989 – 1996. He is a veteran of the Persian Gulf War (Desert Shield/ Desert Storm) and Operation Restore Hope (Somalia). He met his wife while he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and they now have 3 wonder kids, 2 daughters and 1 son. When he was discharged from the Marines, he drove trucks up until he had a chance to go to school in 1998. The Veterans Administration gave him the opportunity and he took it. He went to ITT Tech in Mechanicsburg, PA for AutoCAD and graduated with an Associates Degree in AutoCAD in 2000. He's currently working for Pulte Homes, Inc. as an Architectural Assistant. When he's not working he enjoys playing Baseball and Football with his son. He also likes to hunt, fish, camp, spending time with his family, movies, watching cartoons with his kids and listen to music.


Melinda Heavrin

Melinda graduated from Jefferson Community College in December 2004 with an Associates Degree with Distinction in Computer-Aided Design. She has been working for Norton Healthcare since September 2004 in the Construction Management Department as a CAD Coordinator. Her job duties include, drafting sketches from the architect, space planning, managing CAD standards and over 300 drawings totaling over 10,000,000 SF. She is also the current columnist for ADT for AUGIWorld Magazine.


John Herridge

John is recognized by Autodesk as an Architectural Desktop Certified Expert for AEC CADCON, Inc. He has 13 years of extensive professional experience and 18 years of overall experience in the industry. As an ADT guru he has presented at several occasions at Autodesk University. He is also an active member of the AIA and has presented architectural solutions at local and state AIA chapter meetings and events.


David Koch

David is a Project Architect in the employ of EwingCole, a Philadelphia-based firm with offices across the United States, offering architectural, interior design and engineering services. He started there in 1983, and was part of the first groups of employees trained in AutoCAD in 1986 and in Autodesk Architectural Desktop in 2000. In addition to serving as an ATP instructor, David is the ADT/ABS Community WishList Manager. He has also served as an Autodesk Discussion Group Facilitator since July, 2002. David has been an AUGI member since March, 2003. Between work, AUGI, work, attending his children's sporting events, work, supporting his son's Boy Scout Troop and work, he no longer has time for hobbies or other activities, which used to include playing volleyball and reading for pleasure.


R.K. McSwain

R.K. started working for his present company in 1995. Starting in 1999, he spent four years working for Carlson Software providing programming, support, and training to customers worldwide. He returned to his present company in 2003, and resumed presentation of in-house training seminars, while continuing to work in the production department. He was made full time “CAD Systems Administrator” in the summer of 2005. His job description includes the continued training of all company CAD users in 6 offices across Texas. Melanie Santer

Melanie has taught over 100 public and custom classes for AutoCAD, Land Desktop and Civil 3D. She has also redesigned existing customized training material for custom classes. She is currently involved in design and implementation of equipment and systems and assists in implementation and network deployment of various Autodesk products.


Kelly D. Swa

Kelly has over 15 years of experience using Autodesk products in the MEP/Architectural industry. He is also a Certified Expert in Autodesk Building Systems Implementation. He has been using AutoCAD and related Software since Release 10.


Tom Weir

Tom Weir earned his B.A. degree in philosophy from University of Massachusetts in 1976. Tom has worked for 25 years with Brandow & Johnston Incorporated Consulting Structural & Civil Engineers in Los Angeles whrere he is Director of BIM & CAD Operations. He authored the first AOTC lesson book for Revit Structure. He was also one if the original Moderators of AUGI Revit Structure forums. He is the President & Founder of Los Angeles Revit Users Group and has been a speaker at Autodesk University in both 2005 and 2006. Tom has also been an AUGIWORLD article contributor since 2006.


Darren Young

Darren has previously taught AutoLISP classes for a local Autodesk reseller. He’s also been an instructor at Autodesk University, as well as being a previous AUGI ATP instructor. He currently supports and trains over 100 users in the use of CAD & Graphics applications.
