The elected candidate will serve a three year term beginning in January 2011 and continue through to end of December 2013.

We commend all of the candidates for their willingness to serve and be part of this process. Their credentials and dedicated service are one of the reasons that AUGI is such a strong organization. It is through members such as these that we continue to expand the offerings, programs, events, and training to AUGI members.

In 35 years with Ingalls Shipbuilding on the Mississippi Gulf Coast in a sleepy little town know as Pascagoula I utilized three major CAD software’s during that period where we have built numerous ships for the Navy. The first system was AutoTrol GS1000 and GS500, the second was GE, Prime or Computer Vision Calma DIM III, and today Autodesk AutoCAD 2006 and 2008.  I have been a CAD designer and developer in all three systems writing many lines of code, developed many menus and training many user. I have been project lead and supervisor but found my true calling was not in management but CAD development and helping users do what they do best… build great ships. We started using AutoCAD in release R11. In the early 80’s I utilized Corel Draw and TuroboCAD for personal use. I designed a lot on the side during that time working with specialty glass, windows, and cabinet design shops. My personal hobbies, beside CAD, is Tennis and picking my 5-string banjo. Yes, I play Bluegrass.. I have had long run in CAD and I must say for the most parts it has been all good. I look forward to hearing from each of you and I hope you do contact me and ask many questions.” I do enjoy a good conversation”.

My long standing work to teach and inspire current & future professionals makes me believe that serving on the AUGI Board of Directors would create a mutually beneficial relationship. This would be an extraordinary opportunity allowing both AUGI & myself to generate more widespread success. My personal and Professional goals are directly aligned with the tenets of AUGI; my voice, passion and perspective would add essential, one of a kind viewpoints too often lacking in Board of Directors’.

If elected, you will find that I will remain an active and positive vocal force for change when such a voice is necessary, I will also be an encouraging force, focused on building consensus; which will become a vital piece in assisting the Board in achieving all of its tactical objectives & strategic goals. My overall intention for sitting on the Board will primarily be to help AUGI realize more tangible and valuable results.

I would be a positive addition to the AUGI Board of Directors in a number of capacities. In the past year I became the Treasurer for the organization and I have had the opportunity to observe how AUGI works, and in some respects I have been able to participate as well. While I enjoy taking part in the financial side of AUGI, I could also apply myself to other areas of the organization. I think one my specific areas of interest is member relations; one of AUGI’s foremost goals should be to ensure it’s members are getting from AUGI what they require and I would like to participate in making sure that happens. In general I look forward to exploring the available roles to which I could apply my skills. AUGI is an excellent organization and I look forward to the opportunity to being a part of continuing its success.
