FAQs

Below are questions we receive frequently from individuals interested in becoming AUGI board members

How many board members are there?

The Board of Directors consists of a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 10 elected Directors. The number of Directors shall be fixed by resolution of the Board. Currently, there are ten Directors serving on the AUGI Board.

How long do the board meetings generally last? (i.e., How many days would I be away from the office?)

The President sets the time and place of the face-to-face meetings of the Board, which shall occur at least twice a year. Special meetings of the Board of Directors may be called by either the President or upon the written request of one-half of the members of the Board of Directors. The two face-to-face meetings take five days each, usually from Wednesday through Sunday. The other meetings are monthly teleconferences, which last about two hours.

How long is the term?

Directors shall be elected at large for two-year terms. No Director shall serve more than three consecutive two-year terms. The term of office of every Director shall commence on January 1 and expire two years later on December 31.

Can you give me a rough idea of the amount of time required above and beyond the actual meetings?

That depends on your area of involvement. All board members are expected to contribute and there are dozens of jobs from which to choose. Web team and ATP board member positions require more time, while other chores are less demanding.
